Hello World!  Goodbye Ole Site!

Hmmm...should I or shouldn't I?

Grieving the Loss of a Website (No Way!)

I did some research on the pros and cons of converting your Old Web Site into the popular new version of Word Press Free Blogs. While Stats indicate that my old site was very well received and visitors returned often to read my blogs, and/or to solicit my services, I now boast a new endeavor that I didn’t realize would take courage – and that was to say goodbye to (get rid of??!!!) my old site. This new site that I proudly hail as my first solo attempt at doing both the creative work and the actual technical building of the site has rendered me in a subtle state of loss and grief at taking my original site down. Who would have thought that you would feel a “loss” over an internet site, for crying out loud?

However, in the ever-evolving world of cyber-space, it is inevitable that we keep up with progress and the eminent era of high technology, that will keep us growing old if we don’t keep up with the times!

Well, Google has tons of info on the pros and cons of websites vs. blog sites, so no sense in reinventing the wheel and talking about it on this platform.

At any rate, I decided to unite the two and make it both a blog site and a website in word press. The point is you just want people to know who you are and what you do…bottom line. This can all be indicated on the new site, right? Right. What about that old adage, “don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater.” Sigh…it is kind of like moving from your first house to a newer brighter more modern area. You say goodbye to old ways, trade in old furniture for the new stuff; you decorate it to fit the trendy styles of today, and you meet new and exciting new neighbors (CLIENTS) through networking over the fence, or a cup of java. However, you do keep a few of the memorable treasures, like testimonials, trophy’s, and links from the old clients to the new. Whew! Ok, my grief is under control now, and I can say goodbye gracefully and move on to my new world. I hope the welcome wagon visits often…and has additional or new projects for me to do!

I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game.
